Back again!

Mr T is growing and just won't stop! He is amazing though. He has found a love for jokes and has recently bought a knock knock joke book. He loves to read and has started reading to himself! So he doesn't need us to read to him anymore but we still like to feel needed. He has recently decided that he no longer needs us to lay with him till he goes you sleep either. It was a sad day when I figured that out! He is a first grader and is doing great in school so far, not so much on the bus! We already got kicked off for three days. He is also in cub scouts now, or very own Tiger! He loves it! Another thing he loves, Pokemon. Still. He was Charizard last year for Halloween and this year he was Pikachu. We were a family of Pikachus! He loved trick or treating and stayed on the side walks and off the lawns the whole night.

Birthday Party Fail

So since I have been here last we have celebrated the B mans birthday with the annual party at the park, shark themed this year! It was not a good day for me! To start with I totally did not have a cake the morning of his party. That's right, no cake! So it just got a little bit worse from there! i thought I had everything covered and so of course I didn't. I blame it on me going back to work, yeah that's what it was! Anyway, I ended up forgetting the candle, the cups, the ketchup and I am sure there was more that was forgotten but I have blocked it out. So we tried to have him blow out the flame of a lighter and he looked at me like I don't think so mom. I did ask how his party was so I could get the perspective from the kids at the party and they didn't notice anything missing! He LOVED his party and asked why we were leaving when we left. Actually he complained because he wanted to know why we were leaving his party!

We got him one of the Leap read, write, and listen pens. He LOVES this thing! He will carry it around with him, making sure of course that the volume is turned up all the way, and listen to the songs as he walks through the house! He also likes using it to read the books he has for it so far. One of his favorites is the sample book it came with because it has a skeleton and he can hear the different bones. He also got some water guns that him and his friends like to play with.

A quick cuteness from the other day. We were at 711 getting slurpees/snacks and the cashier told us it was $8 something. Mr B thought the guy said $10 and he chirped in with a " ten dollars, that's ridiculous!" It was amazing and we laughed with the 711 people for a little bit before we left!

Mr B turns 5!

So I can not believe it has been 5 years already! (Technically we are talking 2 days ago now as it is after midnight!) It seems like we were just getting used to this little person that relied on us for everything and now the BIG BOY can do everything by himself! I miss the baby days but I am so thankful that I have gotten to watch Mr B grow into the headstrong, independent, hilarious little boy he is today!

His birthday doughnut!

So some things to remember this age by! I wish I would have done this as he was growing but I obviously can not be relied upon to make timely additions to my blog!

He seems tall and lanky to me but then he stands next to his friends who are the same age as him and I realize he is still on the small side. That's okay, he can stay small if he wants to! He is 38 inches tall and just hitting 40 pounds. He just had another checkup with his cardiologist and everything is sounding great! So we got a six month pass. I am trying to figure out how to schedule his 5 year development study, he has done one at a year and 3 years so far. He has not been behind so far but with heart babies it's better if you catch them having problems sooner rather than later I hear.

Some of his favorite things to play with are puzzles and board games. If you let him he will do these all day long! To break it up a bit we also like to go outside to draw on the sidewalk and blow bubbles. One of his new favorites would have to be going on the "bike road" to go for walks or rides. He has a number of ways to get down the bike road, his favorite being a scooter. He also has roller skates and his tricycle. It doesn't really matter though how we go about it he just loves to use the new bike road. He also has to make sure he is protected every time he is going to ride something. He gets all his knee pads and elbow pads on, his helmet and even his padded gloves. He is super cute in his safety gear!

Safety Gear!
(Don't mind the no pants thing, this is basically how he lives!)
(Or the dirty house thing, you know the stuff you weren't looking for before in the background but can now see clear as day!)

He loves reading. This really hasn't changed at all, he has always loved books. The only real difference is now he can read some of them. He gets mad at me if we go to the library and I don't give him enough time to look at books. He can count to 29 but after that he says 20. So we are working more on his numbers.

He is starting to not be so affectionate. This one hurts my heart a little. He doesn't like to cuddle anymore. He gives kisses still but you never know what kind of kiss you will get, his favorite being cow kisses at the moment! He still wants me to play with him though, even when his friends are playing with him. We do have a routine for right before the Hubby leaves for work. When the Hubs is ready to walk out the door he will announce, "Okay I'm leaving now" and just like that the game starts. I start saying, "no that's my dad you can't give him hugs and kisses!" and he takes off to see who can reach dad first. This is accompanied by laughing and slight chaos. It's our favorite part of the day I think.

There is one other time that Mr B will seek out cuddles. If he gets really tired he will come up to me and say, "Mom I want you!" in a slightly whiny voice. I always pick him up or cuddle with him when he says this because I don't know how much longer it will be before he gives these times up too! (sad face!) When he is really tired is also the time he will ask to be picked up. I try not to tell him no because I am not going to be able to pick him up for long!

Of course the 4th of July happened!

He loves his pets and is pretty good at being responsible for them and feeds them almost without having to be reminded. He loves the Girl Scouts (I am a leader) and was heart broken when I told him he couldn't be one. Then I told him he could however be a Boy Scout and now he is extremely excited to start. He also can't wait for school and is super excited to start Kindergarten. He was also super excited for his birthday. For the last month he has been asking if tomorrow is his birthday and he finally heard us say yes on Monday! He has a countdown thing for his birthday and loves changing the numbers and working his way one day closer!

When he woke up asking me if it was his birthday I wasn't expecting him to tell me he could do whatever he wanted because it was his birthday. I reminded him that that is not how it works! So for his birthday we went to see Inside Out. It was a cute movie but the one he really wants to see is Kung Fu Panda 3. He will tell you when it is coming out and of course that we are going to see it. He loves them movies. His birthday also happens to be IHOP's birthday, which if you ask him is the best place ever to go eat. So of course we had to make a trip to IHOP for dinner after the movie. Fifty seven cent pancakes! We were spending the day with his god mother and her girlfriend and her daughter so they brought presents for him to open at IHOP. He loved everything he got (Legos, bubbles, chalk, and water guns) and had a birthday sundae before we left. We stopped at Wally World on the way home and he decided he wanted a doughnut for his birthday instead of cake. So a candle on a doughnut finished off his birthday! Well and another trip to IHOP with Uncle B and Aunt J.

Three Long Years!

The family. (see why I need to start running again!)

I can't believe it has been three years! Three years since I have been here to update! Three years you have had to go without the cuteness of Mr T! He is not so much a toddler anymore though so now I think he will be Mr B. Its a happy/sad moment when the baby isn't a baby anymore. I know this because Mr B tells me all the time that he is NOT a baby! Then I tell him no matter how big/old he gets he will always be my baby!

Mr B's Valentine pics, so handsome!

So Mr B has successfully completed two years of preschool and is moving on to Kindergarten in the fall! I don't know what I am going to do with all my extra time (nap), maybe I will take time to deep clean the house (nap), or maybe take up a new hobby (nap), of course I always have books that could be read (nap)! Oh who am I kidding, I am going to enjoy my naps, at least for the first half of the year! Then I might try to work on something else, like longer naps! Where was I? Oh yeah, Mr B is all enrolled in his school and we are enjoying the summer readiness homework to make sure he stays on track! He is super excited to start Kindergarten and make new friends! I can't believe he will be 5 in a week!

We have added some pet kids to our household since last I was here. We now have two cats, or I should say one cat and one kitten. The cat took a bit to warm up to the new living plaything but now she does okay with her. She still has an issue with food though. Since we got the new mouth to feed Freya, the old one, has been eating the whole bowl of food in one sitting! So when Astrid, the little one, goes to get something to eat she gets to enjoy a couple crumbs! So we decided they will no longer get food in their bowl at all times but will eat a couple times a day. Well now Freya thinks we are trying to starve her out I think. She will sit by the bowl an look at you. If you still don't get the picture she will meow as condescendingly as she can! Astrid is a treat though, she has extra thumbs! This makes her paws look huge and super cute at the same time! Mr B is obsessed with the cat/kitten and really does not like to leave them alone.

Astrid wondering what was happening!
Freya was not having it!

Mr B also received two hermit crabs for X-mas. Yeah whoever thought it was a good idea to give a kid a pet for their birthday/any other holiday has not thought about who will really be taking care of said pet! So I got two new crabs and they kinda freaked me out at first, they looked like super sized spiders with shells. Then I made piece with it and they are actually really freaky, especially if you catch a glimpse of them without their shell on! So they are called Crabby Daddy and Crabby B, yes Mr B named them! We also have a gold fish that I am surprised is still alive. Mr B won it at a festival while it was still cold out so I thought the thing wouldn't even last the night. Here we are two months later and the thing is still going strong!

A little about me, I have decided to start running again! I want to do a 5K and work up from there. Of course I need to give up my newest addiction. Has anyone played Wizard 101? I absolutely LOVE this game and so does Mr B. The problem is I would rather spend my time doing that then running. I need a new running buddy, any takers? Mr B is a part of this wonderful group that has runners for special kids. It's called I Run 4. His runner lives in California and I hope to be able to go and meet her soon. Mr B just loves getting to talk to her and he loves the medals that she sends him from the races she runs! So if you are a runner or if you have a special kiddo who would benefit from having extra support you should check out this group!

Halloween!

The boys meeting the cow!
So only a couple days late for this post, but I wanted to write down how Mr T's second official trick or treating trip went. His first he was only almost 4 months old, and last year he was quarantined to the house because he was still recovering from his heart surgery. So we were anxious to see how he would react. The day started off alright, he had his Early Head Start visitor come over and played with her for an hour and a half, but he refused to take a nap before this. So going into the night I knew he was going to be tired and cranky! We went a town over to trick or treat because we were meeting my mom and my nephews. Mr T slept in the van on the way. Once we got there and I tried waking him up, well lets just say it wasn't happening! Then when he heard/saw the boys, all of a sudden he was a wake and wanting to walk with them! It's amazing how if there are other kids around he is suddenly up and ready to play! So we went down Main street through the trunk or treat they had set up after waiting in line for a good ten minutes. One of the people handing out candy was a cow and Mr T was not getting to close! It was funny, they would step forward and he would back up! Then they had a haunted bus we went through and at the end a guy had a rat on the end of a wire that he was making walk towards people. Mr T would not walk anywhere near this thing and the guy made it walk in front of Mr T so he just stopped and stood there, you know where he knew it was safe! After we went through the whole line we started going house to house. I don't think Mr T fully understood this part. He did good to start with, he would pick out his own candy when they let him and put it in his bag, but the colder we got the more Mr T got mad because we were walking away from these houses. There were a couple times he almost threw a fit because he wanted to go in the house and didn't understand why we were just walking away! He also had an issue with someone in a gorilla suit. He would not take his eyes off this guy!

My little Dragon with Dad!

Other that that he did pretty well! He didn't get an over abundance of candy and he had a good time!
Passed out with his candy!

Fun times!

So, we've been busy, busy here! I bet you have been too! It is getting close to Halloween and that involves everyone. If you have kids or not you are busy around this date because.....
If you have kids; you have costumes, candy, Halloween parties, candy, pumpkin carving, candy, haunted house decorating, and of course candy!
If you Do Not have kids; you have candy, haunted house decorating, candy, pumpkin carving, candy, Halloween parties, candy and of course costumes!
So either way you can see how you are going to be busy this season. And now you probably want some candy, right?

Anywho, we had a Halloween party last weekend, a visit to a pumpkin patch this weekend, and another Halloween party next weekend. Include in that the playgroups we usually attend, the park playing we have to get in before the snow falls, and of course the pumpkin related crafts that have to get done and you get busy, busy, busy!

The soggy bottom kids!

To start with the Halloween party we threw, it was amazingly wet! Up this way, where I have the delight to live, it was cold and soggy all weekend! Of course that didn't stop the kids when it came to playing games in the rain. I think they enjoyed it better than when it is dry! Of course the mud makes it interesting when they are trying to jostle each other for position in the sack race! They also went on the hayride about twenty times! Once it was even pouring rain, and they had a blast! I made Pizza Bites (found on Pinterest!) and they disappeared so fast by the time I got them to the table they were half gone! I also made some Halloween popcorn (it was green and also found on Pinterest!) but it was barely touched! I thought it was good! So guess what came home with me!

Taking the tractor for a spin!
See they acted like animals!
This weekend we went to Anderson and Girls Orchards. They have all kinds of animals that the kids LOVE! I took Mr T and my nephews and they ran around for about four hours straight! They fed all kinds of animals and played on all the tractors they could find! They acted like a bunch of animals! Then we got to ride in a trailer pulled by a tractor to go out to the pumpkin patch and they all got to pick their own pumpkins. The older boys of course went for the biggest pumpkins but we told them they could only have the  big ones if they could carry them out! Mr T walked around and around, every time I asked him if he wanted this pumpkin or this pumpkin he would say um NO! So finally I put two pumpkins next to each other and asked which one of them he wanted and that is how he picked his pumpkin! My oldest nephew (11) picked a pumpkin that weighed out to be twenty pounds! And yes he carried it out himself! Mr T's pumpkin wieghed out to be ten pounds. Then we bought some doughnuts and decided it was time to take off!
Mr T LOVED the pig races!
Picking a pumpkin!
Waiting to bring our pumpkins home!

The nephews doing the dirty work!
The next day (today) we all got together again and carved all the pumpkins that the kids have acquired ( seven all together I think). Mr T would not stick his hand in a pumpkin! The other boys had a ball pretending they were eating little pieces and trying to get the other ones to do it too!
Mr T was NOT touching any pumpkin!
The finished product!

Hopefully I will be back next weekend to let you know how our next party goes! Have a great Halloween season!

Stolen High Fives!

Good morning!

Today I woke up to Mr T stealing a high five from me. Usually when he gets up with dad, dad will take him to the bathroom so he can potty. After he potties successfully he gets high fives and stickers. Only if he goes to the bathroom though! This morning he did NOT go to the bathroom! He did however steal a high five! Here’s how it happened, he came in and said mom, then grabbed my hand to pick it up and slapped it with his! I asked Jake if he earned it and he said NO, so Mr T stole a high five!

Then the hubs and Mr T played in his bedroom for awhile. By that I mean Mr T grabbed the hubs by the hand and led him into his bedroom and patted the floor beside him and said "sit". So the hubs sat down and Mr T picked up one of his little Tow Mater cars and started pointing at different parts. He pointed at the tires and said feet, then he pointed at the mirrors and said ears, then he pointed at the tailgate and said butt! He is so smart!

Right now the hubs and Mr T are napping and it is still one of the cutest things I have ever seen! I think I may be a little bit biased though!

Ta Ta for now my lovelies!
